Trikes
Trikes are those
three-wheeled vehicles which in front look like a motor-cycle,
but are very wide behind
(especially for beginners).
It's a feeling
almost like riding a motor-cycle.
A feeling of
freedom - having your nose in the wind.
But the way of riding a trike is totally different
from driving a
motor-cycle or even a car.
The way it moves
straight on is comparable to a 50-ton-crane...
That means: watch your
way and go sloooowly through the curves !
It's also important to
know, that you see just one wheel in front of you,
but your vehicle is very
wide behind.
When going around
corners, you should remember !
Please listen to that advice !
Especially when riding a
trike for the very first time.
For instance when you
rent a trike (which in Germany costs about 400 DM per weekend).
In Germany there are many manufaturers today.
The production of trikes
has increased during the last few years.
There are trikes based
on the VolksWagen 'Kaefer'
(wich is useful, because
the engine is chilled by air),
there are also trikes
with Harley (tm) - engines (very expensive because of the brand...),
trikes with Chevy - V8 -
engines (many horses running :-)) ,
trikes with pedals - my
son has got one :o)
and many other
creations.
But don't compare them just by price !
Most important is to
check the quality.
Sometimes it's better to
spend a bit more money
and save lots of
trouble.
